The House

Our Story

A name that makes people look twice, clothes that make them look three times, and a mission that makes the whole thing matter.

It Started With a Dog Named Duchess

In 2010, our founder walked into a shelter to donate old towels and walked out with a trembling, one-eared terrier mix the staff had nicknamed Duchess — "because she acts like the place is beneath her." Duchess had been passed over for eleven months. She was, the paperwork noted with bureaucratic honesty, "a lot."

So was our founder. That week, at a kitchen table, she screen-printed twenty t-shirts with a gold crown and the words Royal Bitch — a joke between her and the dog, technically accurate on both counts. She sold all twenty at a weekend market, gave half the money to the shelter, and took orders for forty more. The label was never supposed to be a label. Then the shelter called to say the donation had covered Duchess's dental surgery, and suddenly it was a mission with a merchandising problem.

From Kitchen Table to Couture House

The early years were tees and markets: 2010–2011 was crowns, slogans and the first "Women's Fashion ~ Helping P.E.T.S." hangtags, hand-cut with scissors. Yoga wear followed in 2012 when customers kept asking what to wear the rest of the week. The Signature Dresses line arrived in 2015 with the first Coronation Gown — sewn for a customer's charity gala, photographed once, requested three hundred times. Men's shirts joined in 2017, after seven years of husbands and boyfriends asking, with decreasing irony, "where's mine?"

Today the house runs four permanent collections, produced in small numbered runs with two European mills and a production philosophy of fewer, better, kinder: fewer pieces, better construction, kinder supply chain. We'd rather sell out than mark down, and we'd rather repeat a classic than chase a trend that will be landfill by June.

The Name, Since You're Wondering

Yes, we know. That's the point. "Royal Bitch" is what the world calls a woman who knows her worth and declines to discount it. We decided the phrase deserved better tailoring. Also — and we cannot stress this enough — it is the literal technical term for Duchess, who presided over the studio for twelve years, approved every collection by sleeping on the samples, and remains our official founder-in-memoriam.

Every crown we print is hers. Every donation is her dental surgery, paid forward. That's the program — and it's why the label reads Women's Fashion ~ Helping P.E.T.S. and always will.

What We Stand On

House Values

01

Attitude Is a Fabric

Every piece should change how the wearer stands. If it doesn't, it's redrafted. Confidence is the one material we never substitute.

02

The Rescue Comes First

Helping P.E.T.S. isn't marketing garnish — it's the founding reason. The percentage is audited, published and non-negotiable.

03

Made to Outlast Trends

Small runs, taped seams, real hems. We design for the tenth year of wear, not the tenth week — see our capsule wardrobe guide.
